Mangaluru: ‘Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2016 – Grand Finale’ organised by the Department of Business Administration of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, was inaugurated here at college premises on March 11.
Murthy Ramaiah Krishna, General Manager-HRM, SLK Software, in his inaugural address said that 600 students have reached the grand finale after competing with 6000 students, which means that they have great potential to achieve the impossible.
A fitness freak and a marathon runner, Krishna asked the students to pursue their dreams.
“My ultimate goal is to reach the Boston Marathon and I’m working hard for it. Nothing will come easy. Passion, honesty and integrity are the keys to achieve success,” he added.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, Department of Business Administration, welcomed the gathering and said that 23 colleges were competing in the grand finale.
Lokesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration stressed on the fact that this event was to enhance the knowledge of the students.
“Companies nowadays believe in knowledge and intellectual capital than physical assets. Here, in this event, we are giving a chance for the students to develop their knowledge and also guide them for a better future,” he said.
Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management complimented the students and said that the primary focus of the event was to convert information into knowledge, and knowledge into wisdom.
Ramesh K G, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, delivered the vote of thanks.
The day ended with Valedictory session. Jenevive Machado Deputy Manager, HDFC Bank Ltd, an ex-Sahyadrian was the chief guest in the closing ceremony.
Irwin Glen Soans, Sheikh Rizwan Ahmed and Akhilesh of SDM College of Business Administration were the Winners of the Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2016.The First runner up were Lionel Rolson, Narthan Poovanna and Shaun Coelho of St. Aloysius College and Second runner up were Abhijatha, Suraj and Guruprasad of SVS College Bantwal. The winners were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 25000/-, Rs.15000/- and Rs.10000/- First, Second and Third Prize winners respectively.
