Mangaluru: The National Service Scheme (NSS) teaches us to know ourselves, to blend in with the society and to help the needy without any reward, said NSS Nodal Officer of Mangalore University Dr Nagarathna KA.

After inaugurating NSS Day and current academic year programs at Ravindra Kalabhavan of the University College here on Monday, she said that the regular and annual programs of NSS are helpful in inculcating determination, discipline, cultural talent and personality development. They will be the basis for building a self-sufficient life, she said.

Presiding over the event, Principal Dr Anasuya Rai said that NSS teaches teamwork. We should leave the narrow feeling and achieve coexistence, she said. On the same occasion, the process of selection of leaders and volunteers of NSS teams was held.

NSS Unit-2 Program Officer Dr Suresh welcomed the gathering. Unit-1 Program Officer Dr Gayathri N. extended vote of thanks. Lecturer Nidhishree was on stage. Student Shahana compered the program.
