Mangaluru: Students at St. Agnes College, Mangaluru, a prestigious women’s college, are set to benefit from a new collaboration with ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation) which will give them an opportunity to gain the prestigious professional level ACCA Qualification while studying for their degree.
The new B.Com in International Accounting & Finance is an Undergraduate Program in Commerce which is fully integrated with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Curriculum. The program entails a student completing the entire ACCA Qualification alongside their B.Com in International Accounting & Finance from St. Agnes College. The student needs to attend few external examinations across 3 years of her B.Com Program. The classes are run on campus itself. This is the First Integrated Bachelor’s Degree in Mangalore which allows students to pursue ACCA with paper exemptions. This initiative will also result in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) – the business reporting standards which India is currently adopting, being incorporated into the new B.Com curriculum, thereby giving students a competitive edge as employers look for new recruits with an understanding of the new standards.
The MoU has been signed with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) – The Global Body for Professional Accountants based out of UK and ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation) – a London based leading Skill Development Company. The MoU was signed on the ground of huge employment opportunities of IFRS and its wide acceptance in 70% of countries.
Mohammed Sajid Khan (Head of International Development) and Tom Mannapurathu Joseph (Head of Strategy for Key Markets) have signed on behalf of the ACCA and ISDC respectively. Prof. Sr. M. Supriya A.C. (Principal) and Sr. Dr. M. Jeswina. A.C. (Vice Principal) have signed on behalf of the College in the presence of Dr. Deviprabha Alva (Head of Commerce).
