Mangaluru: Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing organised a three-day national seminar on speech and hearing, “FOCUS – 1” from March 28 to 30. As many as 230 delegates from various states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka were present.
The formal inauguration was presided over by FMCI Director, Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho. FMMCH Administrator, Rev. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa was the chief guest of the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
Congratulating the College on the achievements accomplished in a short span, the chief guest expressed his hope of achieving the ‘center of excellence’ award soon. He also emphasized the need for equipping oneself with knowledge and skills with an aptitude for the profession. Speaking about the scope of a profession he said that desire and willingness along with knowledge and expertise will make one readily venture into any avenue.
Addressing the gathering, president of the programme, Fr Richard Coelho, made them acknowledge the gifts of God and urged them to use them ethically while carrying out God’s mission of healing by becoming valuable instruments.
The conference comprised of inputs from both the international and national speakers and hands on experience. Specific topics discussed include opportunities and challenges for audiology and speech in private practice, vestibular assessment/rehabilitation, trends in hearing aid technology, telespeech, voice assessment and applied behaviour analysis.
This programme received approval and special credit points from the Rehabilitation Council of India.
FMCOSH principal Prof. Akhilesh P.M., welcomed the dignitaries and the delegates of the gathering. Organising secretary Dr. Santhosh Kumar delivered the vote of thanks.
