Mangaluru: Padma Shri Awardee Prof. Anant Agarwal, an alumnus of St. Aloysius College, CEO of edX and a renowned professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, will be delivering an “Endowment Lecture” on January 8 at 2:30 PM in St .Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

During this programme, the college will felicitate him for his meritorious contribution to the society.

Prof. Anant Agarwal was honoured with the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian award of the Republic of India in the year 2017 for his outstanding achievements. He is also the recipient of Maurice Wilkes Award for Computer Architecture, Harold W. McGraw Jr. Prize in Higher Education, as an outstanding leader of the development of the Massive Open Online Course movement (MOOC) in 2016.

He, being a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), will be delivering the endowment lecture in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Undergraduate and postgraduate students will be the beneficiaries of the programme.

Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector of St. Aloysius College Institutions, will preside over the function. Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, will be present during the occasion.
