30,000 people witness I-D celebration of Alvas Foundation

Moodabidri: Alva’s Education Foundation celebrated Independence Day in a grand manner to which over 30,000 people, including 24,000 students studying in various colleges under the Foundation became witness.

Mangaluru Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza hoisted the flag and said that educational institutions are superior to religious centres and in present scenario where peace and harmony is at stake, it is important that educational institutions teach lessons of peaceful co-existence to students.

“Every student must know their rights as citizen and at the same time they must also perform their duties as citizens,” he said adding that students must strive to build a strong nation free from corruption.

The highlight of the event was 24,000 students waiving the tri-colour flag in their hands as tri-coloured balloons painted the skies by flying high. Mallakhambha and human pyramid by students wearing tri-colour clothes enthralled the audience.

On the occasion Michelle Queeni D’Costa who cracked the UPSC examination, CET (medicine) first rank holder Ananth G, PUC (Commerce) state second rank holder Daksha Jain were felicitated.

Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, MLA Abhaychandra Jain among others were present.
