“YenConclave 2016”, seminar on 3d Craniofacial Imaging at Yenepoya University inaugurated

Mangaluru: YenConclave 2016, a 3-day workshop on 3D Crainofacial Imaging organized by Yenepoya Dental College, Deralakatte, Mangaluru was inaugurated by Dr. V. Surendra Shetty at Yenepoya University on Thursday, September 29.

YenConclave will include seminars and web calls with people from different parts of the world to explain different softwares and updated techniques used for Craniofacial Imaging.

Dr. V. Surendra Shetty, Pro vice chancellor, Manipal University who was the guest of honor spoke on the occasion and said, ”Eye cannot see what the mind does not know. With the increase of technology, we have moved from 2D images and diagnostics to the world of 3D like MRI and CT. These were used with extreme caution all these years because of low radiation, which included low flexibility and high costs.”

“With the intervention of 3D technologies, stronger diagnostics and more accurate measurements have come into play which helps in treating people better,” he added.

Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Chancellor, Yenepoya University delivered the presidential address. “This conference has created a new vision with three dimensional softwares being used to bring smiles. This technology makes sure it is simpler and provides a definite diagnosis.”

Makhter software which is used for smile analysis, developed by Dr. Akhter Husain and Dr. P G Makhija was launched by Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi.

Principle B. H. Shripathi Rao welcomed the gathering. Dr. Roopali Shetty and Dr. M. Basheer compered the programme. Dr Rohan Mascarenhas delivered the vote of thanks.

Dr. Akther Husain, Professor & head department of Orthodontics, Yenepoya Dental College, Dr. Shreekumar Menon, Registrar, Yenepoya University and others were present.
