Ira Khan, daughter of renowned actor Aamir Khan, tied the knot with her long-time partner Nupur Shikhare, a well-known celebrity fitness trainer, on January 3 at a luxurious hotel in suburban Bandra. The intimate ceremony was attended by close family members, including Mr. Khan, his ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, as well as sons Azad and Junaid. Following the wedding, a reception was held at the same venue. Numerous photos and videos from the event circulated online, sparking discussions about the groom’s unconventional choice of attire.
Nupur Shikhare was captured wearing shorts and a vest while signing the marriage documents, raising eyebrows on social media. Ira, the CEO of a mental health support organization, opted for a traditional outfit. In a pre-wedding glimpse, the fitness trainer was spotted jogging from his Santacruz residence to the venue in the same athleisure ensemble, further fueling online commentary.
Online reactions to the groom’s attire were varied, with some humorously suggesting that he appeared to have come directly from the gym for the wedding. Others proposed normalizing such outfits for weddings, while a few criticized his choice, stating he seemed unaware of appropriate wedding attire.
However, the couple later posed for photographs, showcasing Ira Khan in a stunning light pink and blue traditional ensemble, while Mr. Shikhare complemented her in a blue kurta. The couple is set to have another wedding ceremony in Udaipur on January 8, followed by a grand reception in Mumbai on January 13.
Having been in a relationship for over three years, the couple got engaged in November 2023, marking the beginning of their journey towards marital bliss.
