New Delhi: In the #MeToo era that has been sweeping the world, actress Tanushree Dutta, who had accused an actor of sexual assault on the sets of 2009’s “Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss”10 years ago, has once again come into the limelight after naming Nana Patekar as the person who harassed her.
Elaborating about the incident after being interviewed by Zoom TV on Tuesday, Dutta told ANI that Patekar was “aggressive” with her, pushing her around and misbehaving with her on the movie sets. “He demanded to do an intimate step with me even though it was my solo dance. It was total harassment,” she told ANI.
Dutta, who debuted in 2005’s “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” alongside Emraan Hashmi and Sonu Sood, reportedly joined the sets of “Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss” for a brief period for a song. She, however, backed out of the film after getting sexually harassed by Patekar.
She also alleged to Zoom TV that “everyone” in the industry knows about Patekar’s misbehaviour with women, but no one speaks about it. “He has beaten actresses, molested them and his behaviour with women has always been crude, but nothing was published about it,” she said.
“Everyone gossips, but no one speaks about it,” she said adding that such stories about actors don’t come up to the surface as their PR teams manage these things. “They will give money to some poor farmers… but this is all just for show,” she added.
When asked about the #MeToo movement, Dutta told News18 that the Indian film industry would not see the full effect of the movement till it acknowledges what happened to her.
Giving examples of Patekar’s recent outings with Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth, she said that there was no chance for a better work environment if big names in the film industry do not boycott actors like Nana Patekar.
