The actress donned a chic white T-shirt paired with blue flared pants and a grey blazer, effortlessly completing her look with stylish shades and white sneakers. Her stunning mint-green saree, meticulously crafted by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, stole the spotlight with its intricate details. Adorned with gemstones and delicate floral embroidery, the saree featured an impressive 23-foot-long train that trailed behind her as she gracefully ascended the iconic Met Gala staircase.
Following her show-stopping red-carpet appearance, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share a series of snapshots from the event. Captioning the post, she wrote, “It was a journey to the Garden of Time – a tribute to art and eternity. Reflecting on the creative process, Alia added, “Nothing embodies the essence of tradition and innovation quite like the saree; in the expert hands of @sabyasachiofficial, this vision reached its zenith. Drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of Indian royalty, we focused on intricate craftsmanship, incorporating hand embroidery, precious stones, and elegant beadwork and fringes reminiscent of the iconic 1920s style. Our color palette pays homage to the natural world, echoing the hues of the earth, sky, and sea.”
“We embraced a subtle nostalgia with the hair and makeup – an elaborate hairstyle adorned with intricately woven braids and soft freckles – a tribute to the gentle passage of time. Bringing this vision to life has been a remarkable journey… both enjoyable and challenging. It has been a collaborative effort involving 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftsmen, embroiderers, artists, and dyers, investing a total of 1965 hours to create this ethereal saree. As I wear this ensemble, I am deeply grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and meticulous craftsmanship,” Alia Bhatt concluded.
