World’s Oldest Man, Juan Vicente Perez Mora, Dies at 114

Caracas, Venezuela: Juan Vicente Perez Mora, a Venezuelan man who gained recognition from Guinness World Records in 2022 as the world’s oldest living man, passed away on Tuesday at the remarkable age of 114, as confirmed by officials and family members.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the news on the social media platform X, expressing condolences for Perez’s passing.

Perez achieved the title of the oldest living man on February 4, 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old, according to Guinness World Records.

A father to 11 children, as of 2022, Perez had an extensive family, including 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Born on May 27, 1909, in the town of El Cobre, situated in the Andean state of Tachira, Perez was the ninth child among 10 siblings.

According to a Guinness statement from 2022, Perez began working in agriculture at the age of five, alongside his father and siblings, assisting in tasks such as sugar cane and coffee harvesting.

Throughout his life, Perez diversified his work, eventually becoming a sheriff. He was recognized for his role in settling land and family disputes, all while continuing his involvement in agriculture.
