
Tijuana: Uber has become not just the preferred means of transport, but the most popular one. The popular app connects people who want to hail a ride or who are in the business of driving people.
One such young Uber driver was shot dead in Tijuana, a Mexican border city.
Karla Garrufe (21) got into a heated argument with another driver whose car she had bumped into from behind. According to witnesses, the other driver, a man, pulled out a gun during the argument, shot Karla, and drove away.
Karla passed away on January 25 morning and her killer remains loose for now.
Uber condoled Karla’s death in a statement and said that they were working with the authorities to help solve the case. They have also stated that Karla was disconnected from the app at the time of the shooting.
Tijuana is one of the cities which has been affected by the sharp rise in violence in Mexico.
