New Delhi: Captain Sunil James of  MT Ocean Centurian, who was accused of assisting pirates off the coast of Togo, has finally had a sigh of relief as the Togo government has agreed to release him to perform the last rites of his 11-month-old son.

Reportedly James is set to leave for India later on Thursday after spending six months in jail in Togo as his family members had pleaded the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his early release to conduct the last rites of his 11-month-old son who died of septicemia in a hospital on December 2.

James had stopped at Togo to report an attack on his ship MT Ocean Centurion by pirates when he was arrested July 31, along with two other crew members, for allegedly aiding the pirates.
