New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has been convicted under the Arms Act for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, will move the Supreme Court by filing a review petition against its March 21 judgment.
The petition, which has been prepared by a Delhi-based legal team, will most probably be filed in a day or two. If the plea is suspended, a curative petition can also be filed.
On March 21, the Supreme Court sentenced Dutt to five years of imprisonment. He was given four weeks to surrender. The actor, who was convicted under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons, had been awarded six years imprisonment by the TADA court. However, the SC reduced the sentence from six years to five years. Dutt has to spend another three years and six months in jail as he has already undergone 18 months imprisonment.
