Russia’s Long-Range Aviation Marks 109 Years Soaring High

New Delhi : Russia commemorated the 109th anniversary of its long-range aviation, popularly known as “The Switchers,” according to media reports.

These long-range aircraft are said to be an essential component of Russia’s Strategic Nuclear Forces’ air component, constituting the nuclear triad.

December 23 has been declared the Day of Long-Range Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces by the nation. This day is observed as a professional holiday for all military personnel who are engaged in long-range aviation.

According to reports, the essential part of Russia’s Strategic Forces functions directly under the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation’s Supreme Command and occupies a significant role as one of its main reserves.

One of the three main pillars of the Russian nuclear triad, long-range strategic aviation is essential to bolstering the nation’s defense capabilities.

According to a media report, “its ability to play a significant role in various military scenarios is underscored by its proven effectiveness in the special military operation zone using non-nuclear weapons.”
