New Delhi:An all time low for the Indian currency. The Indian rupee hit a record low of 59.94 against dollar, within striking distance of the key 60-mark.
Rupee traded at 59.92 against Wednesdays close of 58.71/72 per dollar. Last week the rupee had hit a low of 58.98 against the currency.
If rupees decline is in line with other emerging market currencies that were weak after US Fed Governor Ben Bernanke indicated tapering off of the stimulus this year itself.
The record low of the rupee has given rise to expectation that the Reserve Bank of India will remain active in the forex market to stem a scarier free fall of the rupee.
