Dhaka: One person was killed and 30 others injured after a massive fire broke out in a high-rise building, here on Thursday, March 28.

According to authorities, the blaze at the FR Tower in the city’s Banani area housing offices and restaurants, started on the seventh floor at around 1 p.m., reports Xinhua news agency.

It was not clear how many people were inside the building when the fire broke out.

Two helicopters and 21 fire service units are trying to the douse the blaze, the cause of which was not immediately known, bdnews24 said.

TV footage showed thick plumes of smoke billowing over the building.
