Mumbai, Mar 19: Ten Maharashtra legislators have beaten a policeman who had stopped a Bahujan Vikas Aghadi politician for speeding on Mumbai’s famous Bandra – Worli sea link here on Tuesday March 19.
Sachin Suryavanshi, assistant police inspector , who is in hospital, said media persons that he pulled over the official car of Kshitij Thakur, an MLA from the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi. Thakur was in the car at the time.
Sachin was summoned to the Assembly to explain his action soon after the incident.
Thakur in the Assembly accused the policeman of breach of privilege and said he had been abused by the cop.
Enraged by his account, the members of different party demanded the suspension of Sachin from police service.
Suryavanshi was seated in the visitors gallery.
The legislators – including an independent, a member of Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a third from the Shiv Sena and also several others – then grabbed the policemen and allegedly slapped and punched him.
