Mangalore : The Department of Women and Child Welfare celebrated Makkala Habba, a Children’s Festival at Town Hall in Mangalore on February 10, Monday. JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South, inaugurated the programme.

In his address, Lobo  while expressing happiness over the initiative of the Department to hold the children’s festival, stressed the need to organise such programmes in  places like Pilikula  where  children can enjoy the day to the fullest extent.

AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner,  who was present as a chief guest, said such programmes  should be held in all taluks and  added he was happy to see the children enjoy the day in colourful attires.

DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai  felicitated children who have been selected for the state level Kalashree Awards.

DK Zilla Panchayat President Koragappa Naik presided over the function. Rithesh Shetty, ZP Vice President, Asha Nayak, CWC Chairperson, Maunesh Vishwakarma, Member of the District Implementation Committee of Bala Vikasa Academy, Gopadkar and others were present.
