`Iron Lady’ Margaret Thatcher dies at 87

London: Margaret Thatcher, a grocer’s daughter who went on to become Britain’s only woman Prime Minister, died on Monday evening after suffering a stroke.  She was 87-year-old.

“It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning”,” Lord Bell, her spokesperson said.

The ex-UK PM Margaret Thatcher, also known as the “Iron Lady” for her personal and political toughness had served the nation from 1979 to 1990 as a leader of the Conservative Party.
