Dhaka: Bangladesh, which is undergoing wave of militant attacks, saw a fresh case of violence with a Hindu priest being hacked to death by suspected ISIS militants at a temple in Bangladesh on Sunday.

Around five to six militants attacked the Deviganj temple near Panchagar, 308 miles north of the capital, Dhaka where the priest, Jogeshwar Roy, 55, was organising prayers, sources said.

The militants allegedly slit the throat of the priest, that led to his death. They also shot and  wounded a devotee who went to the aid of the priest. Terror group Islamic States has claimed responsibility for the incident in a statement issued via social media.

The members of the Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, were arrested by the police rejecting the claim by the ISIS, which was issued through the Telegram messaging app and Twitter.
