The goal of the Chinese couple who were put to death for tossing their two kids out of an apartment building window was to begin a new family. Due to the horrifying incident that sparked outrage across the country, Zhang Bo and his girlfriend Ye Chengchen received harsh punishment. Wednesday is thought to have been their death by lethal injection, coming over two years after their execution was authorized by China’s Supreme Court. Zhang was found guilty of pushing his two kids out of a 15-story apartment building window in 2020, while Ye was found guilty of pressuring her boyfriend to kill the kids.
Zhang had a two-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy. The woman asked him to get rid of them because she saw them as an “obstacle” in their relationship.
According to a report, Zhang began seeing Ye without disclosing to her that he was married and had two kids. In February 2020, he got divorced from Chen Meilin, his ex-wife, but Ye made him kill his kids.
Videos of Zhang looking distraught over what he had just done went viral on Chinese social media. According to the outlet, he was also observed sobbing uncontrollably and hitting his head against the wall.
Zhang claimed to the police that he was asleep when the kids “fell” and that he heard shouting coming from downstairs when he woke up. The mother of the kids claimed that she was horrified to learn of what had happened to them.
“The moment I heard my kids were actually thrown out of the 15th floor by their father and the mistress, I couldn’t find any words to describe my feelings,” Chen was quoted as saying by the Post.
“I couldn’t imagine what my kids had experienced from the 15th floor to the ground. Were they desperate? Were they afraid?” she added.
Zhang and Ye’s crime sent shock waves across China for its cold-blooded premeditation, as well as the youth of the victims.
Their executions quickly rose to the top of a list of trending topics on Chinese social media site Weibo on Wednesday, receiving nearly 200 million views.
