Beijing, Feb 12 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter Scale jolted northwest China’s Xinjiang region Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

The epicentre, with a depth of 12 km, was located at Yutian county.

No immediate casualties or damage have been reported. The area is sparsely populated, mostly by Uygurs.
