Move over Samsung’s Note 7 woes, Apple is now investigating claims that an iPhone 7 Plus ‘blew up’ due to battery issues after a video and photos of the smartphone surfaced on the internet.
The video posted on Twitter by Brianna Olivas shows smoke flowing out of a crack in the side of a rose gold iPhone 7 Plus. The video has been retweeted more than 24,000 times since it was posted yesterday.
Later, she posted photos of the damaged phone showing the burnt back of the iPhone.

According to Mashable, an Apple spokesperson said: “We are in touch with the customer and looking into it.”
A Guardian report states that the incident occurred while the phone was charging next to her head while Olivas slept.
Earlier in September last year, Samsung had recalled Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to battery issues.
