Uttar Pradesh In a revelation that took everyone to surprise, the Indian intelligence came to find out that the head of the Indian branch of Al-Qaida belongs to the family of a freedom fighters. The family of Sanaul Haq belongs to Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh.
Sanaul Haq was unmasked by the agencies as Maulana Asim Umar, the head of AQIS (al-Qaida in Indian Subcontinent).
According to media reports, Haq’s family said that for them, he had died six years ago when the local intelligence agents told them that their son had joined a terrorist organization.
In 2009, intelligence agents got in touch with Haq’s family in Sambhal and informed them about their missing son being alive and working for terrorist organisations Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and al-Qaida.
The ironical and sorrowful part of the whole story being that Haq’s father whose family had fought the British during the freedom struggle promptly disowned his son.
The family who lost their son many years ago are saddened by the fact that their son is dead for them even after knowing he is alive. The intelligence regret that the Hindi Haq learnt in school was put to use in translating Zawahiri’s provocative Arabic message in videos which were later circulated to entice young Indians into a life of violence.
