Gatimaan Express: Five interesting facts about India’s ‘century train’

India’s fastest train the Gatimaan Express will be flagged off on Tuesday. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the train at 10 am by remote from his office.
Here are few things to know about the India’s fastest train:

Gatimaan Express, also called as ‘semi-bullet’, will run at a speed of 160 km per hour between Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and Agra Cantonment Station.

The train has 12 AC coaches. In each compartment, passengers will be assisted by host and hostesses. To make the journey comfortable, passengers will be provided with free wi-fi facility, automatic doors and 8-inch LCDs on every seat.

Skipping Friday, the train will run for six days every week.

Passengers will have to cough up Rs. 690, 25 per cent more what the Shatabdi charges, to travel in the AC chair car of Gatimaan Express.

Travellers will be offered a wide variety of food options to choose from — continental, Indian, Italian, Indian and others.
