New Delhi: In the run up to Delhi Assembly elections, all the major political parties (Congress, BJP and AAP) are leaving no stone unturned to highlight their contributions towards the development of the national capital and stress upon their future plans for the same. However, there subsist certain facts which must be properly pondered over before you go out to vote these polls.

One such fact is that the ruling party at the centre i.e. BJP is bereft of any substantial opposition in the parliament in the wake of its landslide victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. For the same reason, the last few decisions – ordinance route, land acquisition bill to name a few – by the incumbent cabinet – attracted very less opposition amid at least in the lower house of parliament.
Though, the saffron unit lies way below majority in Rajya Sabha, its latest victories in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand provide it a way forward to achieve a sizable mandate in the upper house as well followed by wins in the coming assembly elections in other states as well; and Delhi is one such place. To cut the long story short, powerful BJP requires a setback in the national capital so that proper check and balances can be maintained and real virtue of democracy remains in place.
Here are 4 reasons why AAP should win in Delhi
1. A lot of credit should be passed over to AAP for changing the discourse of the polity in India. It changes the poll issues from caste, creed and religion to corruption, transparency, accountability and efficiency.
2. With AAP’s victory, at least one strong opposition can be created which will fearlessly pose questions to BJP – questioning each and every move of its. This will also provide a jolt to the saffron unit which may have become a tad over confident and a bit authoritarian in its working after recent series of poll wins.
3. Most leaders in Congress and BJP have aged down and hence, the required enthusiasm to lead youngsters which contribute a big chunk of the voting population in Delhi appears missing in them. This doesn’t allow them to maintain a constant connect with youth. Whereas in AAP, majority of the leadership including Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Kumar Vishwas to name a few is very young hence, much more vibrant than their counterparts.
4. Most important of all, AAP’s idea to make fresh and honest faces to contest polls has struck the right chord with the voters who are tired of inefficient and corrupt politicians. Hence, choosing AAP over others will change the discourse of national Politics forever.
