Social media users are sharing startling videos of Vande Bharat passengers pleading with train employees to retrieve their nearly empty food trays. User Akash Keshari (@akash24188) posted the videos on X (formerly Twitter) and complained that the food being served inside the train was stale. In one video, travelers could be seen pleading with the train employees to remove their food trays, and in another, a close-up of the food presented in tin foil packaging was displayed. Mr. Keshari conveyed his dissatisfaction and requested a refund in the caption. Additionally, he tagged Ashwini Vaishnaw, the railway minister, and the official accounts of Indian Railways and Vande Bharat Express.
“Hello sir, I’m traveling from NDLS to BSB with 22416. The food being served right now smells terrible and is of very poor quality. Please return all of my money. The videos were shared by Mr. Keshari, who wrote, “These vendors are damaging the reputation of Vande Bharat Express.”

The video also caught the attention of Railways Seva, who assured the Vande Bharat passenger that the complaint had been officially registered on RailMadad. “Your complaint has been registered on RailMadad and complaint no. has been sent through SMS on your mobile no.,” the railway officials wrote. They also urged Mr Keshari to share his PNR and mobile number, through Direct Message (DM), for further assistance.
Additionally, the licensee has been fined ₹25,000 by the IRCTC for the “poor quality of meal”. “Licensee has been strictly warned to improve their quality of meal/mini meal,” they stated.
Users also mentioned similar incidents in their comments. “The same holds true for Rajdhani as well. Furthermore, the stench left on the platform is intolerable if you are standing there and a mail express train, such as the Rajdhani or Vande Bharat, happens to pass. One user commented, “We give lectures on cleanliness, but trains are dirty and no cleaning is done.”
