A police complaint has been lodged against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family concerning a viral video capturing their Christmas celebration. The video, taken during the Kapoor family’s Christmas lunch, features Ranbir lighting up a pudding after pouring a spirit over it, with his wife Alia Bhatt seated beside him. The complaint alleges that the actor has hurt religious sentiments.
Filed by Sanjay Tiwari at Ghatkopar police station through lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, the complaint contends that the actor “is seen pouring liquor on cake and setting it on fire while saying Jai Mata Di.”

The complainant argues that in Hinduism, the fire god is invoked before other deities, and Kapoor’s family deliberately used intoxicants while celebrating a festival of another religion and chanted Jai Mata Di.
The video is from the annual Christmas brunch hosted by Kunal Kapoor, attended by Ranbir, Alia, their daughter Raha, and other members of the Kapoor family on December 25. Ranbir and Alia also celebrated Christmas the previous night with Alia’s mother Soni Razdan and sister Shaheen Bhatt.
Alia expressed her gratitude in a post, saying, “Grateful for this bunch… grateful for so so much… Merry Merry Christmas & happy always.”
