Bengaluru: About a week ago, a significant occurrence took place when Chandrayaan-3 softly touched down on the southern pole of the Moon, making its mark in history. This occasion, now affectionately termed ‘National Space Day’ on August 23, filled Indians worldwide with immense pride. Subsequently, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been regularly sharing updates about the lunar spacecraft, ensuring a continuous flow of information. However, the latest viral content on social media features a video depicting a man appearing to be walking on the lunar surface, which has left everyone astonished.

This raises questions since Chandrayaan-3 was an unmanned spacecraft. How could a human presence be observed on the moon? As it turns out, this video is from the past – a creative project by a street artist in Bengaluru dating back to 2019. The video showcases an individual dressed in an elaborate spacesuit, humorously navigating a landscape resembling the moon’s rugged terrain. In reality, the terrain is none other than the pothole-ridden streets of India, playfully drawing a parallel between lunar craters and road imperfections in the city.

Regaining attention, the video gained traction when a user on the platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, shared it, mistakenly identifying the location as Nagpur. Alert commentators swiftly corrected the location, accurately pinpointing Bengaluru as the video’s origin and even providing a link to the original creator.

Interestingly, this video appears to be a fitting response to an earlier blunder made by Ashok Chandna, the Sports Minister of Rajasthan. Prior to the Chandrayaan-3 landing, he had expressed his happiness at the commitment shown by the ‘brave individuals’ aboard the mission.

Chandna’s statement read, “If we succeed and achieve a safe landing on the moon, I would like to salute the passengers. Our nation has taken another step in science and space research, and I would like to congratulate the citizens of India.”
