Ravichandran Ashwin played a pivotal role in India’s triumph in the 4-1 series against England. Finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 26 dismissals, Ashwin not only excelled on the field but also etched his name in the record books. Notably, he achieved the remarkable feat of playing 100 Tests and claiming 500 wickets in the format, making him the second Indian after Anil Kumble to reach this milestone. Furthermore, Ashwin surpassed Kumble to become the fastest Indian to achieve this feat. He also broke Kumble’s records for the most wickets in India and the most five-wicket hauls for India in Test cricket.
Despite facing personal challenges with his mother’s hospitalization, Ashwin’s exemplary professionalism guided India to victory. In recognition of his extraordinary accomplishments, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) honored him with a Sengol and a special blazer. Additionally, former BCCI chairman N Srinivasan presented Ashwin with a cheque of INR 1 crore.
