Bengaluru: In a big disappointment to Sudeep fans, this year’s edition of Karnataka Premier League slated to start from September 1 will not feature the Sandalwood star’s cricket team Rockstars with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) deciding to eliminate the team.
As per reports both Sudeep as well as team owner Raju Gowda had not been informed about the elimination reasons. The elimination has however taken many by surprise including the actor’s team members who dedicated themselves towards the team’s progress.
A letter written by Sudeep to his supporters, which has been posted on the social media by the Worldwide Kichcha Sudeepa Fans’ Association reads:
“Rockstars elimination from KPL is surely a big let-down for all the actors, my friends and the team owner, Raju Gowda. who dedicated themselves towards the team’s progress selflessly. This termination has taken each one by surprise.
We shall now walk out with our heads high for having done what was expected of us. Each one has taken out weeks from their working schedule and have dedicated it to the KPL. It’s unfortunate that a decision of terminating Rockstars has been taken by the board. I’m glad that I was called at least to inform that a decision has already been taken, though I chose to rule this out as a rumour when many had much earlier called to inform that Rockstars was no more a part of KPL, for I was sure that a decision of this level would never be taken without having a discussion with me or RajuGowda in person … But I was wrong this time..
A decision was taken n I was called later to inform that Rockstars weren’t a part of KPL anymore … I have walked out respecting their words. But it’s killing me because,, I as a captain of the team have seen the hard work n dedication my players have put in, knowing that they weren’t doing this to craft a career in cricket but just to be a support. I do not expect Rockstars to play each and every year, but these players, my team, My team owner deserved a better exit.
Meanwhile, Sudeep rubbished media reports suggesting he was angry with the KSCA replying that he takes these situations in his stride.
