Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a dominant 10-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Wednesday. Chasing a modest target of 166, openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma tore apart the LSG bowling attack, reaching the target in a mere 9.4 overs – the fastest chase of 100+ runs in IPL history.
Head and Sharma’s explosive batting display left LSG captain KL Rahul speechless. “Am lost for words,” Rahul said after the match. “Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills.”
Sharma and Head capitalized on a shaky LSG batting performance. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s economical spell restricted LSG to 165/4, with only Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran managing significant contributions.
Post-match footage captured LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka engaged in a heated conversation with Rahul. Experts on Jio Cinema criticized the public display of frustration. “Such conversations should be happening behind closed doors,” one expert said. Simon Styris agreed, commending Rahul for maintaining his composure.
The heavy defeat raises questions for LSG. Rahul acknowledged their shortcomings: “We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn’t get any momentum.” He conceded that even a higher total might not have been enough against SRH’s aggressive batting.
This win propels SRH to number 3 in the points table, while LSG needs to regroup and address their batting woes.
Mr Goenka is a pathetic owner.
I support KL Rahul 100%
