Scientists have something new to marvel at the next time they travel along the Western Ghats. If you love lizards, don’t forget to stop by Kulumavu in Idukki, for you are lucky, you will be able to spot the tiny lizards, which researchers of the region have named as the diminutive dragon.
For those still curious, the creature here is the agasthyagama edge. While this is its scientific name, the creature is otherwise popularly known as the Northern kangaroo lizard.
The lizard sure has sparked the interest of a number of curious scientists who seemed to have gathered at the spot from various institutions across the nation as well as abroad for a closer look at the reptile celebrity.
Belonging to the agamidae family, this one is surely a cute sight with its long snout of 4.3 cm.
This is the second time scientists have come across a species from the agasthyagama family, the last one being at the Sivagiri hills in Tamil Nadu. India sure has a reptile that it can show off, and we can’t help hoping to see more of these, at least a third one from this mysterious specie.
