The biggest sporting event of the year is back and ready to kick start on March 31, 2023. The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League will feature over ten teams and the defending champions Gujarat Titans are set to face Chennai Super Kings at Sri Narendra Modi Stadium in the season opener.
IPL will have a change in broadcasting this season. The BCCI sold the broadcasting rights for the next five seasons last year. The rights of the IPL have been sold for a record 48,390 crores, making it the second most valuable tournament in the world after NFL.
Star Sports has renewed the television rights and they will broadcast IPL matches until 2027. However, they have failed to retain the online streaming rights courtesy of Viacom18’s 20,500 Crore bid.
This season, IPL is available on the JioCinema application for free. Yes, JioCinema will broadcast the IPL matches for free even for non-Jio users. JioCinema is set to air the matches in 12 different languages and 4K picture quality. JioCinema will have multi-camera angles made available for the users to choose the best one.
