Mangaluru: With head gear on and with his geared bicycle put on stand, he takes a break from his cycling journey. A look at this man and his age can surely not be judged.

He is T Ranganatha Udupa, a doctor by profession and a cyclist by passion.
As Udupa took a break on NH-66 after cycling all the way from Udyavar, about 90 kms away from Mangaluru, he had no signs of tiredness.
A member of Mangalore Cycling Club, Dr Udupa says that over the last six years he has been cycling to places around and he as a doctor endorses cycling as a great way for good health.
“Well, I am a doctor myself and I cycle to keep doctor away,” says Dr Udupa, who is a general physician working in BASF and is specialist in industrial health. He believes that wellness of body and mind are inter-related and cycling can be a stress buster and great means of exercise both for body and mind.
I advise my patients, and also educate them, about maintaining better health, through routine and systematic exercise and bicycling, said Dr.Udupa.
Dr.Udupa said that according to his observation, many youngsters have taken to bicycling and he has been promoting it among his patients and friends as well.
He said, in his club, person from 16 to 60 years of age have been actively taking part, in the rally being regularly organized. We do cycle up to 200 or 300kms and regularly practicing bicycling keeps one charged throughout the day and helps in maintaining good health. His patients have experienced lot of heath improvements after adviced bicycling, apart from medication. Only rainy season can keep me away from my cycle, says Dr Udupa.
