Open air sun temple at Sullia
The open air Sun temple which has many exclusive features to meditate, perform yoga and circumnavigate has succeeded in drawing wide attention in a short period of time. The Sun god is revered in Indian tradition because many living creatures survive on the light showered upon them. The nature sustains because of sunlight and the school management believes it’s one of the noble ways to show obeisance to the mighty Sun god as most known planets in the universe revolve round the sun.
The sun temple in the midst of nature is enough proof to justify their move. The open air temple was inaugurated recently after which five meditation programs were held. The main structure is based on astrology where a ball in the shape on sun is placed on a pillar of 5 feet height. There are 7 decks around the sun structure which relate to seven days of the week and seven major planets which revolve round the sun. In addition, there are special idols with relevance to eight planets which revolve round the sun. Large stone slabs brought from Karkala covers the complete flooring around the main structure.
Medicinal plant garden, writing school, school of arts and open air theater were among the many firsts in this school. With the addition of open air sun temple, students and the public have a new avenue to adore what they believe in strongly.
According to Chandrashekar Damle, President of the Sneha Institutions,” Children are inclined towards spirituality from the early days in our tradition and this new sanctorium provides them to focus and empower themselves with knowledge. The new temple not only provides the essential spiritual touch to the children who visit the temple premises, but also helps them to develop and grow in attaining greater goals in their lives”.
The open air temple was inaugurated recently after which five meditation programs were held. On the World Yoga Day on June 21, there will be special programs involving meditation and yoga to promote the importance of spiritual aspects among students and general public who visit the temple.
The sun temple is open to public during early morning and late evening hours and has enough room to accommodate 50 people at once.
Isn’t it better to believe than remain dormant?
