Mysuru: Clean India, green India are the catchwords of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan movement of the Central government where Rs 9000 crore is allotted in the budget to keep Indian clean and green. This movement has drawn wide appreciation, though the citizens are taxed to make it work in India!

Every picture has a story and sometimes the hype created can submerge the reality that looms large across many parts of the country. One such glaring example is visible at a small village in Karnataka located in Nanjangud taluk near Mysuru called Haginavalu. Villagers here experience hell on a daily basis with no solutions coming from neither the local administration nor the village panchayat elected representatives.
The stench, the garbage dump, blocked drains have become the breeding ground for all creatures which thrive on such environment endangering human lives. The villagers after making a few attempts to find a solution to the problem haunting them relentlessly, have now become mute spectators.
The village has around 10,000 people, mainly farmers and child labourers. They village does not have asphalted roads, street lights or any other basic amenities to make the resident’s lives better. With their lives in gloom, little money trickling down from the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan budget can help their lives.
