Bengaluru: Is the person who unsuccessfully tried to instigate police rebellion on June 4 an insatiable money monger?
Well, if highly placed police sources are to be believed, then Akhila Bharatha Police Mahasangha President Shashidhar Venugopal, who is behind bars on sedition charge, led a superlatively luxurious lifestyle and is a crorepathi by all means.
Sources on conditions of anonymity have claimed that he has close association with the land mafia and an owner of several houses and flats across the city himself, Shashidhar lived in a rented house so as to prevent suspicion. It is said that the rent of his residence in Yelahanka new town is as high as Rs 43,000 per month!
When the investigating team started unearthing the materials stashed at his residence, loads of documents related to land dealings and other money related papers came as a grunt shocker to them.
In an estimation based on documents procured from his house, the amount of money dealings runs up to several crores of rupees, sources said. This besides, there were few documents vaguely suggesting that he might be a proxy investor in several financial firms.
The investigating team is likely to submit its preliminary report by next week to the home ministry.
Incidentally, Shashidhar’s younger brother, who was also an Inspector attached to a police station in Bengaluru, had ended life after being charged of running illegal money lending business. His older brother, who runs a flourishing business in Bengaluru has been absconding since Shashishar’s arrest, said reliable sources in the police department.
