The most difficult challenge that parents have today is getting their children involved in activities that will allow them to express their creativity while also teaching them valuable lessons for the future and keeping their finances under control. They might not know to determine which online courses will help their children and whether they are within their budget constraints.
The Creativity Mentoring Course offered by Neville Rodrigues addresses all of the above-mentioned concerns both parents and students encounter. For the past 30 years, he has been teaching creativity to children and teens, as well as working as a personality development expert for over 19 years. He is also the founder and CEO of a drone firm and an adventure sport enthusiast. His passion for flying led him to make his very own Real Aircraft at the age of 19.

Speaking to News Karnataka, Neville said that, “I’ve always liked flying and I wanted to undertake it for personal reasons. I learnt to fly by myself. There wasn’t much resources then. I did more study on it at the government library and also with the help of few other resources.”
He mentioned that he was an NCC cadet, and was able to develop things that were far superior to those created by his seniors. “Outdoor activities can really bring out a person’s individuality. Today’s children just sit in front of their laptops or phones to attend their online classes. Nothing much is happening to bring out their creative side! This can pose a serious problem to their future,” he added.
Speaking on his mentoring experience and the course he said that, “Creativity mentoring is not just art and craft. It is far more than what most people think of it to be. I’ve noticed that children are inherently imaginative, creative, talkative, and curious. Through online mentoring, we recognise a child’s social structure and guide them towards their goals. Thus, students can reach their highest level of creativity by the time they are ready to begin a new job, business, or other endeavours.”

Neville went on to say that if we can teach children to be creative at a young age and empower them, they can excel everywhere. “This training is available at Rs 3000 for three months. The course is specifically aimed at children aged between 8 to 14. We give a child a list of activities that they could enjoy as well as learn from. From what I have observed, most students don’t know the basics of various subjects. This is where the problem lies. I’ve devised a method in which the youngsters could express themselves, create a foundation and finally help them to become 90% self-dependant. We also make them aware of resources accessible to them and the wide range of career options they have. These are the topics I cover in my classes,” said Neville.
He further explained that students can create innovative things with waste products. Over the course of three months training, the child will be able to comprehend what they can recycle at home, what they need to buy, and what they can obtain for cheap. In this way parents will no longer have to spend money on the same thing.
According to him, the society’s culture is destroying the future of the children. “The way children are brought up has completely destroyed their potential for creativity. Society teaches us that instead of becoming a leader, we should be followers. Children are taught by parents to believe that it is okay to be a follower instead of being a leader. People’s attitudes toward creativity and welcoming new ideas has to change,” he stressed.

When asked about the effect of online courses both on children and parents, he expressed that most courses exist solely to generate financial gain rather than encourage students to be creative. He warns not to fall for advertisement s that offer you cheap courses, instead one should always look for the quality of the content within. “Most of the contents are available online. Someone on the internet will teach you how to make something, but they will never explain what it is or why you should build it. We try to teach how can a child make stuff while sitting at home and also it is important to teach science the behind it. Creativity Mentoring Course is exactly giving what the child wants as it helps a child’s overall development,” he said.
Communication skills are important, and I make students aware of this, says Neville. The goal is to save children so that when they become parents, they can raise exceptional children. He also went on to say that one can’t develop a creative mind by taking up a course after a certain age. “Children often don’t know what to do. We make them understand things that are available to them and also to create something out of it. These are the things I teach. After the three months course, they will be offered free support until they turn 16,“ he added.
Although it is common to believe that online learning benefits students, this is not the case always. Neville is hopeful that the practical experiences and learning through Creativity Mentoring Course would help children make positive changes in their lives, allowing them to have a brighter future.
