World’s first offline digital wallet solution ‘Yuva Pay’ has been launched in partnership with UDMA Technologies to enable contactless payments for its customers. Both online and offline modes for payments are available. IT experts of Karnataka have specially designed this app under the Make in India, Digital India, and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Schemes. It is a safe and easy cashless payment platform. The experimental testing is already successful in many rural areas of Karnataka.
The specialty of the Yuva Pay app is that it can be used on smartphones as well on feature phones and used with or without internet connections. It is the first-ever offline mobile payment application developed in Karnataka.
Experimental Testing
With the co-operation of the state government, the app was successful in tax collection experimental testing conducted in the Kadoor village panchayat, Brahmavar taluk, Udupi. The app works as per instructions provided by the Reserve Bank of India.
In the first phase, a three-month campaign was conducted to attract the rural public to pay their tax using Yuva App. After assured success in the Kadoor village panchayat, 15 more village panchayat of the Udupi district were selected for the second phase of the experimental testing. In the next month, the app will extend its service to 143 village panchayats and other parts of Karnataka too.
Speaking about the utility of the app in interaction with News Karnataka, Prashant Bramhavar, Managing Director of UDMA said, “Even today rural areas in India are not provided with an internet connection. People are forced to make payments in cash, and many digital payment apps require an internet connection for payments. Poor people cannot afford smartphones as well. As a part of digital India to enable rural India to go cashless, Yuva Pay has been launched.” he said.
“Through the app, with no internet connection customers can pay their utility bills (including municipal, house, water tax, electricity, LPG, DTH, Mobile bill, license fees), make insurance renewals, FASTag, recharge, EMI payments, and also use the app to make payments at retail outlets, he informed.
The program also aims to make the low-income group transit on to digital and contactless transactions by enabling wider access to secure electronic payment services, he emphasized and added that Yuva Pay will also double up as a banking app for funds transfer, checking of account balance, recharge or top-ups, bill payments, wallet to wallet payments, wallet to a bank transfer, and rewards platform, he noted.
“Yuva pay is the easy and safest option because transaction failure in other apps require a minimum of three days for refund, while in Yuva pay the amount is refunded within a short time,” he said and added that they also have launched contactless virtual cards,
Alleying fears on security concern, during online purchases consumer, need to share their debit card details, and if the e-commerce companies data gets hacked then easily the card details can be misused. Therefore, to curb such online frauds we have launched these cards, where customers can add the required amount of money to the virtual card and use these card details while purchasing. So in case, the company data is hacked, customers’ personal information, bank details, and credit/debit card details will be safe.
He also informed about the pocket insurance where the premium is just Rs 150 – 200 with a maximum being Rs 500, and this can be paid as one-time with yearly coverage. And that insurance can be claimed within 48 hours.
