If you are a Mangalorean Catholic, then there is a high chance that you know that when the clock strikes three, you stop your work for the next fifteen minutes to pray and recite the Divine Mercy chaplet.

But the problem arises when you say the word recite, though a lot would rather cover up to complain about the lack of time.

If you are reading this right now, you probably don’t have a problem as there are end number of songs on the internet to teach you how to pray the chaplet in tune.

The problem probably lies with your parents and others around you who don’t have a song in konkani in which to pray the chaplet.

But not anymore with the recent release of the chaplet in konkani, in a beautiful tune. In fact, the entire song was composed and produced in a state of devotions with a frame of the Divine Mercy placed at the desk at the time the tracks were composed, right up to the very end, thus leading to a blissful and touching experience to result in this successful project.

The person for you to thank here is Fr Noel Menezes, a Carona Aldona based Pilar priest who has done the community of konkani speaking devotees a huge favor with this recent release.

Perhaps one can also shout a word of thanks to Joel Fernandes, the man behind the whole idea, not bad for someone having pursued his studies at the South Tyneside college in UK.

And what led him to come up with a song for this. Well, we shall quote his own words here.

“During my college days, I had heard a few of my classmates praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, also known as the 3 o’clock prayer. They spoke about the miraculous blessings it endowed,”

Continuing, he said,

“I was also curious to pray to the Chaplet in order to gain a favor, and I spontaneously vowed to God that if I was granted the favor, then I too would promote the mercy rosary devotion in Konkani.”

And isn’t that the reason for which we all begin and continue to spread the Divine Mercy devotion?

So, if you are not one among them and are curious about reading this, why not try it? Start today, and while like Joel, we can’t all be composers, you can find your own way to spread devotion, and tell the world the wonders that took place in your life through it.
