While the COVID lockdown has been used by different people in various ways, the situation led to the splitting of director R Chandru’s “Kabza”. According to reports, the team had only one movie in mind but as the pandemic put a halt on much of the production work the creative team took the opportunity to develop the story further resulting in the decision to make it a two-part film.
The news was confirmed by the director, who said that the film is taking shape well and that the plans have been discussed with Sandalwood actor Upendra, who is the lead of the film. The actor, according to R Chandru, seemed to be excited about the idea. “I discussed part two with Upendra and he is excited. I will soon give a reading to the actor,” he said.
A team of writers from renowned director Vijendra Prasad’s team are in Bengaluru to finalise the script. Although the writers are getting ready with both parts of the film, Upendra will be shooting for part one first.
“Kabza” is a pan-Indian film and will be released in seven different languages. While the film will be shot in the Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu languages, it will be dubbed in Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali.
As per the original schedule, the shooting for “Kabza” was supposed to resume by September end with an action scene at a huge jail set-up at the Minerva Mills. This has now been postponed to November since the focus is now making the script better, the director added.
