Bengaluru: Sushma Nanaiah, renowned for portraying Kaveri in the TV series ‘Lakshmi Baramma,’ has deep connections to various regions including Dharwad, Davanagere, Mysore, and Bengaluru, despite originally hailing from Kodagu. In a recent conversation with Vijaya Karnataka Web, Sushma reflected on her journey from her school days to her television career and married life.

While Kodagu is her ancestral place, Sushma’s upbringing was shaped by her family’s frequent relocations due to their jobs. She holds a special affection for Dharwad and her friends there. Though North Karnataka’s language initially posed a challenge, she mastered it over time. Her educational path led her to pursue science during PUC and eventually complete her MSc, all while remaining involved in cultural activities.

Sushma’s journey into acting commenced when she auditioned for and secured a lead role in the serial ‘Kavya Kasthuri.’ Despite the industry’s challenges, she persevered and became part of various serials, including ‘Ashwini Nakshatra’ and her comeback role in ‘Lakshmi Baramma.’

Her personal life took an unexpected turn during her school days, as she developed a close bond with Prateek. Their relationship, which began with school conversations, evolved gradually. Eventually, they decided to get married, embracing their diverse backgrounds of Coorg and Maratha without encountering any issues.

Sushma also delved into her career as a makeup artist, managing both her serial commitments and her family life. The character of Kaveri in ‘Lakshmi Baramma’ holds a special place in her heart, as the audience warmly embraces her portrayal.
