In an unfortunate incident, “Kirik Party” may not release this Friday. Audio company Lahari has brought a stay on the release of the film but only if the song they have objected to is used.
The contention is over the song, “Hey Who Are You”, which is part of the film. Lahari says that song’s tune is copied from the song Madyaratrili Highway Rasteli from the film “Shanti Kranti”. The original song’s composition is by Hamsalekha. But Lahari has the copyrights for the same.
The makers of “Kirik Party”say it is only a tribute to the songs of Hamsalekha and Ravichandran and not a copy. But the court in Bengaluru has given a stay on Wednesday.
However, the film can be released if the song is deleted. With just one more day to go for the film’s release, the issue has left the Sandalwood fans in state of tizzy.
