Jayanthi’s family slams news of her death, confirms her recovery

Bengaluru: A day after veteran Kannada actress was admitted to a hospital due to respiratory ailments, rumors of her death started doing rounds on social media on Wednesday morning. Slamming rumors of her demise, Jayanthi’s family confirmed that the 74-year-old actress is on the path to recovery.

“There is no truth in the news of Jayanthi’s death in social media. Some TV channels reported that she was dead which is untrue as they were confused regarding her health,” Jayanthi’s son was quoted telling news agency Sakshi.

The actress, who is suffering from asthma for 35 years now, was admitted to Vikram Hospital in Cunningham road and was placed under observation for 24 hours. According to the report, Jayanthi has been shifted out of the ICU on Monday and is recovering well.

Having worked in over 500 films, Jayanthi has featured in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Marathi languages films. She has also been awarded two Karnataka State Film Awards for Best Actress, the President’s Medal for Best Actress and two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress throughout her career.
