Films have a way of influencing people and therefore, play an important role in today’s world. In the past, we have seen many individuals getting influenced by movies in both positive as well as negative ways. It is, therefore, imperative that filmmakers choose a good underlying message for their movies which will have a positive influence on their viewers. The newly released “Asathoma Sadgamaya”, thankfully, falls in the ‘movie with a good message’ category.

The film revolves around India’s education system and the importance of government schools. There are two subplots in the film and they both get intertwined and continue as one story later in the movie. The first subplot is about a couple from Mandya (Kiran Raj and Lasya), who are planning to settle in America and run away from home to fulfil their dream. The second one is about Sherlin (Radhika Chetan), who comes to Mandya in search of her roots.

The focus of the film soon shifts to a government school that is being shut down due to the influence of a mafia of private education institutions. How will the three be a part of this arc is explained in the film.

Rajesh Venoor has taken up a good subject for his debut film. It is not easy to handle such a subject at such an early stage of one’s career but, he has pulled it off. Special mention should be made for producer Ashwin Jossy Pereira, who believed in the script when he could have played it safe and passed it over. He invested in this film and this shows his social concern.

From the acting point of view, everyone has given their best. Radhika Chetan shines as a Kannadiga-origin girl from Finland. The romance between Kiran and Lasya is also portrayed beautifully by the actors. From the technical point of view, the film is good, with impressive BGM, editing and cinematography.

The film is a must watch entertainer that promises to not just entertain but to also deliver a beautiful message. Do go and watch the film this weekend. You will surely love it.
