On Wednesday morning, several users of the Google-owned video streaming site YouTube reported issues that the site was suffering from an outage as when they tried to log in, upload or watch content all they get was a message, ‘Error 500.’ The website had remained inaccessible for nearly 30 minutes and other social media sites were flooded with messages of outrage and complaints regarding the issue.

Later, the company released a statement on its Twitter handle thanking the users for their reports regarding the error message on YouTube TV, Music and the general streaming site, adding that they were working on resolving this issue and once it was done, the users would be intimated immediately. They also apologised for the inconvenience caused due to the outage.

With all Google related services, serious outages of the type that took place with YouTube are very rare and the only previous example of such an issue was during this year’s world cup.
