Dubai: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the ‘UAE Karnataka Rajyotsava-2020’ on November 6, via video conferencing.
The event was organised by Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Kannadigaru Dubai and Al-Ain Kannada Sangha.
The event, which was otherwise organised in a resplendent manner was shifted to the Zoom platform due to the Corona pandemic, this year.
Dr Heggade inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp, after a welcome address by Arathi Adiga.
Flag hoisting was conducted by members of Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah, ‘Nada Geethe’ was sung by members of Dubai Kannadigaru.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha President Sarvottham Shetty, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah President Anand Byloor, Kannadigaru Dubai President Umadevi Vidyadhar and Al-Ain Kannada Sangha President Vimal Kumar lit lamps and deliver the Rajyotsava speech for all the four divisions of UAE.
Sarvotham Shetty, in his address, highlighted the achievements and contributions of Dr Heggade to the society.
Indian Social Centre President Yogish Prabhu, Karnataka Anivasi Bharatiya Samiti, UAE President Praveen Kumar Shetty and Karnataka Sangha Shrjah Vice-President ME Muloor also addressed the virtual gathering.
Cultural programmes were held from members of all the four organisations.
The Live telecast was watched by scores of Kannadaigas in vrious parts of the world, including India, over YouTube and Facebook.
