Dubai: Gulf’s most awaited and biggest Konkani dance competition, “Gulf Baila Naach” is set to be hosted in UAE. The GCC countries and UAE have kick started their preparations for the exciting dance reality show.

Feet beat art center under the leadership of its director Arun Lobo announced that the Preliminary auditions and selection round competitions will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 5.30 pm onwards. Ten couples will qualify from this round to Semifinal round. The dates of the semifinal rounds will be announced later. One couple will be selected from the semifinal round and they will be representing UAE as the finalist. The final will be held at Doha on April 28, 2017.

Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Doha is the main organizer of the event and they have arranged the contest to celebrate their Silver jubilee celebrations of their existence, which will be celebrated on the same day. The winners will be conferred with the title “Baila Jodi” and will receive prize money of Rs 1 lakh while the first runners-up pair will get Rs. 50,000 and 2nd runners-up will get Rs. 25,000. Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar are taking part in this most popular and high voltage competition.

Basic Rules for UAE participants:

“Gulf BailaNaach” is a Baila dance competition on Konkani songs open to all Konkani speaking people of Mangalurean origin, with a valid UAE residence visa. The contest is open to all Konkani speaking people of Mangalurean origin or those who are married to Mangalureans and are above the age of 18 years for both males and females in a duet performance.

Feet beat art center is known for its contribution to different art forms including dance, singing, teaching musical instruments, paintings and other artistic methodologies to their students. The preliminary competitions will be held at the premises of Feet Beat art center and the selection procedures will be led by the guest judges.

Feat beat art center announced its general rules of the completion and they are as follows:

1. The contestant should be Eighteen (18) years of age on or before the Qualifier round competition date.
2. It will be a mixed duet performance type; hence there should be one male and one female. The couples need not to be necessarily married.
3. Visit visa holders are not eligible for the competition
4. The dance should be based on Baila beats only
5. Religious hymns are not allowed. Any song or performances which devalues the moral or any kind of attack on religion, person or country is not permitted and such entry will be disqualified.
6. No Registration charges and entry is free.
7. The maximum time allowed for audition performance is three (03) minutes.
8. Judging criteria for auditions will be expressions, choreography and creativity.
9. Costumes and dancing properties are not mandatory for auditions.
10. Last date to registration is on 12th November 2016.
11. Entries will be limited and organizers reserve the right to accept/reject the entries.
